I hired Allied Van Lines /aka/ Berger Transfer & Storage /aka/ ABC Moving Inc. to move the contents of my home in Austin, Texas to their storage facility in Austin, Texas. Then at a later date they were and to move the contents from their storage facility in Austin, Texas to my Fountain Hills, Arizona home. I met with Area Director of Sales Richard Ferrero and entered into a contract for said services.

My furniture was scheduled to be delivered on June 1, 2007. Berger/Allied sent one driver with my belongings from Austin, Texas to Fountain Hills, Arizona. He arrived 4 days early. I have no idea what he did for those 4 days. When the driver, Richard Casas, arrived to deliver my furniture on June 1, 2007 he only had two people with him to unload my funiture. My furniture consisted of a semi full and an over flow truck. When Allied/Berger loaded my furniture from my home in Texas there was a crew of 7, yes SEVEN. I have pictures and video of the two men dropping my furniture as they were unloading it into my Arizona home. Needless to say this job was way too big for 2 men. Richard Casas walked around smoking cigarettes, never did he unload one single item from the truck.   I later learned the men that unloaded my truck were not even employees of Allied. These other men were possibly day laborers that Mr. Casas picked up for the job.

I have an amazing amount of pictures/video of destroyed furniture. In spite of my asking my sales representative to NOT send my furniture until they had an excellent and experienced crew, even if they had to hold my furniture at his Austin, Texas facility for additional time, they sent my furniture with a driver that was doing his first out of state drive. At the time I contracted for this move Mr. Ferrero assured me that I would have his best experienced crew and he would not send the furniture until such a crew was available.

The two unloaders that Richard Casas hired on the first day of unloading, June 1, 2007, quit after 13 hours of unloading the truck.   They stated that the driver was “nuts” and that there should be a minimum of 4 unloaders WITH the driver helping. The driver then had to search for new people to help him unload. Richard Casas showed up with two unloaders again late the next morning. Unloading my truck of furniture took two days. Again, we believe them to be local day laborers.

I have spoken to Mike Padilla (no longer employeed by Allied), previously the manager of the Austin facility as well as the President and CEO Mr. William Dirks from their Minnesota office. These people do not care that they took twenty-five-thousand-dollars from me and then destroyed my furniture. In spite of having a binding contract for this move I was charged five-thousand-dollars more than the contract stated for this move. I have one-hundred-twenty-eight-thousand-dollars worth of damaged and lost belongings and I have not received a dime from Allied Van Lines even though we had full value insurance with them for this move.

I have moved a lot in my life and this is by far the worst moving company that I have ever used. I am in the process of suing them.

They will make all kinds of promises when trying to get your business and come through on none of them.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

(Please check out the links below from other consumers that have had horrible experiences with Allied. Click on the first link below and look at the 4th complaint. This customer lost EVERYTHING he owned at the hands of Allied Van Lines and he still doesn't know exactly how this loss occurred!)

UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE: I Received a telephone call this morning, March 13, 2008, from Area Sales Director Richard Ferrero. I was shocked that he would dare to call me since I am represented by counsel. Mr. Ferrero called to chastise me for posting this complaint as customers apparently Google him and find it. I wish Mr. Ferrero would have been this motivated to get involved and make some calls chastising Allied Claims Department for not getting my damage claim resolved due to his false promises regarding this move. If Mr. Ferrero made sure that I did have an experienced crew as he promised when I signed the contract for the move we would not be in this situation. Nine months after my nightmare move my garage sits filled with damaged and destroyed furniture. My house is full of the same. AGAIN - DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. PLEASE CLICK ON THE LINKS BELOW.
