Activities Abroad, the Stannington based, North of England travel company, make promises they do not keep! We had a holiday with Activities Abroad from 15th July to 22nd July in Corsica We booked in April and had confirmation in writing from Barry Nolan that he had booked the Dominique Colonna Hotel in Corte, Corsica. Based on this I booked my flights and an additional week in Corsica. One day later told that the Dominique Colonna Hotel was fully booked. We were offered an alternative hotel - at a small discount, the Hotel Arena. Activities Abroad said this hotel was more expensive, hence the small discount, despite not having a swimming pool but had an excellent restaurant - I specifically checked this point. When we arrived we were told the restaurant was closed for the season. The hotel was isolated and after a days activities the last thing we wanted was to go in search of another restaurant. Additional issues developed - the air conditioning ceased to function - they ran out of breakfast cereal - the hotel was noisy and unpleasant. Some key activities promised to us - the Sea Yachting were not delivered. We had no explanation and no compensation for this. The Budget car hire organized by Activities Abroad, gave us a car without a full tank of petrol When we returned the car we filled it at the airport. Budget charged us for petrol direct from our credit card. We wrote to Budget and Activities Abroad and have received no response and no explanation. I tried to resolve this with Alistair McLean but have received rude, defensive, legalistic responses - no apology and no additional compensation. The standard of their customer service is dreadful - they are over priced and in my view, certainly not worth the money!
