As much as I dislike having to pay a moving company to move my “stuff”, it looks like the next time I move I will go out of my way to pay a little bit more… ATTENTION!

Said in an email by David Evans with All Texas Moving, Inc., “Please keep in mind TxDot permits a carrier 90 days to resolve a damage claim and/or make an offer, and as mentioned, it has been only 13 days since your move.” He later stated in the same email, “Just as you are trying to get this behind you, so are all the other patient customers who have filed claims before you.”

What goes through your mind when you hear those statements? Mine too! Thirteen days without a washer (well you have not had the pleasure hearing about that yet), and secondly, how many other unsatisfied customers have had their items damaged by All Texas Moving, Inc.? Kind of discouraging, huh?

I would like to state that during the actual move the men that performed the work were very well-mannered and extremely hard working. I am aware that accidents are unpredictable and many times unavoidable; unfortunately that is why our society pays so much for general liability insurance.

I would like to explain that one of my objectives of this entry is for All Texas Moving, Inc. to take more responsibility. I would also like to explain that the damages in a monetary value are minimal. For the most part, when I reported the damages, this is what I got from All Texas Moving, Inc. “…keep in mind TxDot holds any Texas carrier liable (at most) for $.60/lb per item …”

From what I understand, and this is from the information that All Texas Moving, Inc provided, is that they could ultimately throw a new 46 in. HDTV LCD Television (approx new Price Range $2,230.00 - $3,100.00), that weighs 72 lbs., off the roof of a house and settle for $43.20.

Chest of Drawers (Severely damaged) – damages due to plummeting down a flight of stairs. Please try and picture what the outcome of a cheap chest of drawers, filled with clothes, would be like after one man (yes by himself) attempts to carry it down stairs, accidentally looses his grip, and it was all stopped by the right angle wall at the bottom of the staircase. It was truly an accident, but when one person is attempting to carry a packed chest of drawers down a flight of stairs, well… the outcome is described above (severely damaged). Yea, without doubt it needs to be replaced.

Washer (Leak) – A counterweight spring on the bottom of the washer had popped off during the move. We did not know that was the problem until we paid Sears to fix it. The All Texas Moving, Inc. claims agent, David Evans, had this to say about the washer leak, “…since the mechanical issues your washer is experiencing are outside the scope of our liability, we must deny that portion of your claim.”

Washer (Dents) – The washer was also dented during the move.

Dryer (Dents) – The dryer was dented during the move.

TV (Damages) – a plastic piece was broke off the corner of the TV when the mover (not plural, one man, by himself, and very heavy/ big TV) was placing it down.

Wall (scratches and hole) –when the chest of drawers came racing down the stairwell.

The first settlement offer from All Texas Moving, Inc. was $150.00. All Texas Moving, Inc. and I were sending emails back and forth for a few weeks and one day I received a check in the mail for $305.00. This did not cover the cost to fix, not replace, the washer and dryer and replace the chest of drawers. The check from All Texas Moving, Inc. was dated July 11th, 2007. They explained that I had 30 days to seek mediation through TxDOT. I let the time lapse for a reason. I want to make my opinion public and use my right to speak without censorship.

Originally, I did not want to create this much raucous but the response from All Texas Moving, Inc. was very disappointing and I wanted other potential customers to be more aware if they have to file a claim for accidental damages. I gave All Texas Moving, Inc. several opportunities to come to a resolution. They declined by not responding.

All Texas Moving, Inc. has just been sent an e-mail message letting them know that you have seen this page.

Thanks very much for your support.
