My name is Duong, I have the same problem as with many other on here. The vehicle is 1995 Chevy Astro Van. Our engine overheated, so I searched for an engine shop in the phonebook. I saw America Engines gave me a good quote than my local guy. The car originally from Morgan City. The van still driveable, so we drove it to American Engines-New Orleans at 940 24th Street, Kenner Louisiana 70062, phone # (504) 466-0250. They gave me a price around $2000. We make a deposit to get it fix. They never call back, after couples of weeks are so, we keep calling. They said the engine have to be ordered so that's why it takes so long. Later we found out when the van was done, they charged $1781.00 for a $400.00 engine block. They said the crank need to be change, the align bore, roller lifters, heat vac fuel line, ignition wires, thermostat, antifreeze, air filter, and oil filter. BEWARE, when they said engine is only the BLOCK, just like a box of cardboard with nothing inside it. REMEMBER to read the paper before you sign. This is because we got charged $3217.37 after taxes. They said warranty is only the Engine block ( the empty box). Other parts they listed is didn't said cover under warranty or said not cover so I assumes it was covered. The engine ( not an empty box) was originally 76,966 miles back in November 3, 2004. Now is at 101,XXX miles. The crank started knocking, the labor or not warranty no more. I called AEI, they said the labor should be cheaper because it under warranty. That sure didn't sound right to me. Anyway, whoever sues them let me know at my email: mchstiger2005@yahoo.com, let know the results or if I could join. This messages was typed on July 02, 2007 around 4:00PM CDT. The call to AEI was around 3:20PM CDT July 02, 2007 about the warranty. Can't bring the Van until July 25, 2007.
This make my uncle not trusting any American people because everyone we come in contact want to rip us off in someway. Not trust worth World.
