I purchased an acer Travel Mate 2420 laptop computer in Sept.05/06. In Nov./06 I opened my computer which was in a padded bag to find the screen broken internally, the pixels were scattered. I returned the unit to Acer, which they advised, at my cost for shipping, and they would not warrenty the screen. The repair was quoted at $600. I declined and they returned the unit to me. I have been using the computer attached to a seperate monitorsince then. In March/07 the sound jack in the unit failed to work. I sent an e-mail to Acer and they advised to send it for repair under warrenty. On both occasions of e-mailing fixmyacer, I provided my serial # and particulars for this laptop. I sent the unit to Acer and they replied that they could not fix it without fixing all of the problems ie. broken screen. I am fed up with the run-around and apparent refusal by this company to ever honor the warrenty. The company was aware of the serial # of this unit and should have advised me that they would not fix it before I paid money to ship it to them again. I cannot believe the manner in which the company gets out of warrenty issues.
