On August 26,2006 I innocently purchased two collie puppies from Diane Fitzpatrick in Millgrove Ontario Canada, for the sum of $4,000. Both of these puppies were purchased as Show Dogs. When the dogs arrived both were on antibiotics being treated for diarrhea, the female puppy was very nervous but I overlooked both these issues thinking it was just stress. It wasn't, the female was extremely shy and scared of her own shadow. I registered both puppies in socialization classes but the female was so stressed at classes that we eventually had to stop taking her as she would get herself into such a state of slobbering and shivering that on a few occassions we even thought she was having a seizure. The problem never got better in fact it got worse. The male collie was received with obvious structure faults which I brought to his breeders attention. I was told all of these problems would resolve with age. Again they didn't. Then, the male collies eyes started running. I again was told this will get better. Of course IT DIDN'T. He was taken and examined by a board certified opthamologist and it was discovered he had a condition where his eye lashes were rubbing against his eye balls (entropion). We were advised he needed bilateral eye surgery. If all this were not enough, he broke out with mange. When I contacted Diane Fitzpatrick of Alfenloch collies about these issues she stopped answering my emails and cut off all communication. I emailed her several times in regards to the structure problems, the fact the male puppy needed surgery and about the mange and she still refused to contact me. Finally Diane Fitzpatrick of Alfenloch collies did contact me when I threatened to sue her. Her own signed and dated contract reads, BOTH OF THESE PUPPIES ARE COMPLETELY GUARANTEED WITH RESPECT TO GENETIC HEALTH AND TEMPERAMENT AND TO BE OF SHOW QUALITY FOR A PERIOD OF TWO YEARS FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE WITH A REPLACEMENT PUPPY AT NO CHARGE. When I asked for a replacement she emailed me telling me I would have to return the two dogs to her and sign over their registration papers. This is after we had them for almost a year and both were much loved members of our family. Not to mention and we had thousands of dollars of expenses for them. I told her the contract reads a replacement and no where did it say the dog had to be returned. I received an email from her just yesterday dated final offer where she demanded I return the female dog to her and the papers, or I get nothing. I suspect she wants this dog for breeding, even though she has temperament issues and up rooting her and moving her to a strange home would be the worse thing for this dog. I am warning you this is one unscrupulous breeder who has several other pending complaints regarding the selling of dogs for thousands of dollars then when issues come up she won't return calls or replace them.
