This company based out of Largo, FL does business under multiple names, including "Able Moving Company" "AA-Able Moving Co., Inc." and "A-AAA Able Moving Co. of Fla., Inc." My husband got a quote via phone from them on 9/28/07 for moving services from Sarasota to Dania Beach, FL. We were given a quote for $800 flat fee to help us move on 10/4/07. My husband gave them my credit card number to reserve the booking. On moving day, the owner, Ron Zammito, arrived with one helper and immediately claimed that the booking agent made a mistake which would require him to "chew some ass" back at his office, and that the actual rate would be $1250. We refused to agree to this price increase and asked them to leave. Ron confirmed that they had not charged anything to our card. We immediately logged on to my account to view any recent charges and found that Able Movers had been using our card all over the U.S. during the previous week for various fuel charges. There were a total of 5 charges, all ranging between $120 and $160 each, and all at gas stations located in TN, IN and GA. We immediately cancelled the credit card, then called Ron for an explanation. He did not deny that they made the charges. Instead, he again claimed that we would have to get back to his office and reprimand whoever was at fault. During the following 2 days, we tried many times to follow up with Ron. The only explanation we were given was that one of their employees “accidentally” gave the card number to one of their drivers, and that the “onus was on us as the card holders” to prove fraud. We reported the credit card theft to the Sarasota Sheriff’s office on 10/5/07. Their investigation is pending.
