I had American Alarm install a system in January, 2007 and everything was fine until we moved in July. After two months of paying American Alarm and not having an alarm system transfered into my new house, American Alarm finally installed a system. I received a letter from Monitronics stating that "effective September 2007 American Alarm is responsible for providing me with alarm system monitoring and any other services under the agreement. American Alarm will now be responsible for my monitoring services, and future payments should be made to them." We then called American Alarm to set up payment and they gave us the run around and stated we need to pay Monitronics. Monitronics stated we need to pay American Alarm. We tried 5 times to communicate with American Alarm that we need to make payments to them. On October 26th, we received a phone call from a debt collector stating we owe American Alarm $1600 for lack of payment. We missed two months because American Alarm did not charge us or send us a bill. We had direct payment from our checking account set up and they still did not take payment. I tried to work it out with American Alarm but they said it was to late and we have to pay $1600. American Alarm is practicing deceitful business and no one should ever do business with them. They are extremely unorganized and rude to do business with. I talked with Michelle Surrell in American Alarms payment department and she knows American Alarm was wrong not charging me, but she states "there is nothing I can do, you have to deal with the debt collectors." What is that all about? If they would have correctly charged us or listened to us when we wanted to make payments to them in September, it would have never come to where we are now.
