BUYER BEWARE! I tried American Steammasters for carpet cleaning and wanted to honor a coupon that I received in the mail. I was told that the "coupon was just a starting point" and that they needed to do a deep clean which they were going to charge me an additional $189 to get the carpets clean. Not willing to pay this additional cost, I said the basic cleaning would be fine. I requested to only have my living room and hallway cleaned (plus the stairs which I knew were extra). I also said that if there was any square footage left over to clean the doorway of each bedroom, but nothing more. This request should have been covered by their coupon of $49.95 for up to 300 square feet plus the cost of the stairs. The technician measured my room and claimed that it was over 400 square feet (although I questioned it) and thus I was charged the fee of $99.95 for the 700 square feet coupon. In addition, he cleaned my bedrooms, when I specifically asked him not to (as I know that would have for sure exceeded the 300 square feet maximum). Upon his departure I was able to measure the room and hallway accurately myself and it definitely does not exceed 300 square feet. I also notice that they did not put any protection under any of my furniture. Furthermore, the technician failed to write down any of the details of his visit on the invoice such as square footage, number of rooms cleaned, etc. Therefore, when I signed it, I assumed his measurements of my living room were accurate and that is why I was being charged $99.95. It was not until he left that I realized not only that he cleaned areas that I asked him not to, but that I was overcharged. I called to discuss a resolution to the situation and was put in contact with the owner who was EXTREMELY RUDE. I asked for a refund of the $53.25 that I felt I was owed and he said he would not do it and told me that lots of customers make things up. He also could not answer the fact that the technician did not put pads under the furniture. I said that I would see to it that I advertised the fact that they conduct unethical business practices and that I was taken advantage of and his response was "I'm shaking" and he hung up. PLEASE DO NOT USE AMERICAN STEAMMASTERS! I have used Stanley Steemer, Daisy, and Tillers and would highly recommend them instead as I had great service with all of them. I just thought that I would give this company a try because of their promotion. BIG MISTAKE!
