Mine has to do with Verizon Superpages.com. I signed up with them 12 years ago as a free listing. They called me in February 2007 asking to update my listing. I said no, I didn't want anything from them and I was no longer in business. They continued to talk and I don't know what was said as I felt very bad that day and was medicated. I was already disabled and just diagnosed with a progressive disease on top of other illnesses. I know I wouldn't agree to any 12 month contract, I wasn't in business. They say they have my authorization over the phone. I don't recall. I just remember hanging up the phone because I wasn't feeling good. Now, it is in collections. They used an address that was almost 12 years old to send paperwork that I never received. I never received any emails from them. I remember one call something about paperwork couldn't be delivered. I couldn't get the phone number as I have a very hard time with understanding numbers especially spoken fast. I had no address, I have nothing not even a bill.
Why would they run an ad on a business that doesn't even exist? They knew that address was unable to be forward. Why would you place a business on the Internet that doesn't exist? I told them no and I wasn't in business. I don't remember what else except I felt bad and was in pain.
I talked to a representative about canceling the ad. She said I couldn't until it was up for auto-renewal in March. I had to fax written authorization. I called about it today 1-21-08 to see if they received it. She said it was canceled back in Dec 07. I was confused as I was told I had to fax. She said they received my fax which explain my situation to them about not authorizing the ad.
I have talked to those at American Recovery about the collections. They were rude as I tried to tell them I was disabled and no longer in business. They kept asking for my fax number. I don't have a fax I told them. They said that surely I had a fax to do business. I'm not in business and I am disabled and sick. They made fun of the fact I couldn't remember how long ago was my former address. It actually will be 12 years ago around June. He said that I said 5 years last time I talked and that I would probably say 20 years next. I do have papers to prove it. They kept bringing it back to me as to way I didn't contact them (Superpages.com). And I told them I never wanted the ad as I am not in business. I didn't contact them because I didn't agree to any ad.
Let’s put it this way, my business was me trying to get something going 13 years ago. I used my home phone that I had for 20 years as business contact. I made about 400.00 one year then I was sick and that is the extent of my business. I don’t know what ARSI is going to do with this collection. They keep calling and wonder why I would use a 12 year old address. Hmmm.. Could it be an old, outdated address and there is no business? I sent paperwork to dispute the debt and they act like they never received it. I have all the copies of everything I sent certified. They never sent me a verification of the debt or that they had legal right to collect.. I am still waiting for terms, conditions about the Superpages ad…anything but one bill from a company I know nothing about. All they were interested if I was going to send them money.
Superpages.com could have sent me an email about the billing situation anytime. Why wait so long until it's in collection. They knew I couldn't have receive any bill but an email with receipt request, they would have known that I was receiving the information. The only thing I got from Superpages.com was a great deal of Spam to an old email address. These people don’t care about their customers at all.
I have read on the Internet many other complaints about this company and their sales practices. I am just one more to add to the list against Verizon Superpages.com
