On February 21st I purchased a K20z1 engine from a '05 Acura RSX-S. When I purchased the engine I spoke asked sales person if the 90 day warranty on the engine was still valid, as I was putting the engine into my '02 Honda Civic Si, and it did not cite anywhere whether this was allowed or not. He assured me that it was and also assured me that I could return it should I find an issue. On March 29th I finished putting the engine into my car and resumed using it as my daily vehicle. On April 4th, less than a week after I first started the engine, and still well within the 90 day warranty, two of the roller rocker bearings failed, causing hundreds, possibly over $1000 worth of damage to the engine, assuming the two bearings are the only ones that will fail. When I called them to discuss what the next step was they told me that they do not honor the warranties on engines put into vehicles that they are not originally from. They have allowed me to submit pictures of the damage to them, however they have stated that they will not offer a full refund.I am running the proper Rsx-s wiring harness in this vehicle. I have never raced this engine, as it I was still breaking the clutch in. I am running proven and proper engine management for this series of engine. The type of damage that occurred to this engine is commonly known to lay dormant for hundreds sometimes thousands of miles, with little or no symptoms of failure until it catastrophically breaks. What All Foreign Auto Parts has posted about me, and my vehicle is pure speculation. The parts that they offered to replace do not cover the damage, and the additional parts that I would need to purchase exceed the average cost of a replacement head on the open market, which would replace all damaged components.
