This is to let others know that in dealing with Christina Carl, you should possess a thick skin and be able to let nasty, unnecessary, condescending remarks just roll off your back as part of the process of "finding your dream horse". The blond beauty featured on her opening web page can be deceiving. She can turn on you in a flash and let loose with a tongue lashing when you do not exhibit all the horse experience qualities she finds necessary in the short time she gives you to "find your dream horse". Having purchased a horse from her two years ago, we thought she would be a good source to get a horse to replace our old mare that passed away last fall. We still have our first horse from her, and adore him. However, it's the trade back policy that we are writing about on the second recent purchase that was a stressful unpleasant experience. With her "no money back" policy, we tried to work with her on a trade. She offers it in writing, but it's not clear what reasons she will accept for wanting to trade. The horse was too much for us riding out on the trails. It was like being in the Indianpolish 500. We assumed we could trade back. So if you are a glutton for punishment, try that go around with her. We were accused of everything to "ruining the training on the horse", to our inability to deal with horse issues, "which they all have...", when, in fact, we brought back a horse in better condition with new shoes, vaccinations and a skin condition cleared up. She accepted the trade back in an unfriendly, testy, tense few minutes, even though we traded down in price. Again she offered another 30 day trade back on horse #2. There are many things that you can not discover in the short time you are there, until you get home and have the horse in your own environment. We soon discovered this horse was terrified of our vet (there to give the horse its vaccinations and check up). He has kicked and bit our horse and is very nervous. A few weeks later, after continuous efforts to make it work, we called about another trade....yikes! She said we should get a new vet as there was nothing wrong with the horse, and she can't help it if two horses do not get along. We were told to always keep them separated! She said she did not want a horse returned that was beat up! It was our horse that was getting beat up. So again, the policy for returning is not clear. What reasons does she accept? We still have horse #2, he is still nervous, pursues our horse, and barely tolerates our vet, who is very well known and liked in a huge area. So if you buy a horse, then feel you want to trade back, be prepared to trade down with no money back, and have the joy of dealing with Christina Carl. We wish we had just rescued a horse with so many of them out there, and would have dealt with the same "issues". It would have cost a lot less than what we spent with AZQualityHorses. We want others to know that not everyone has a wonderful experience with Christina, even if you are a repeat customer. But it sure is memorable.
